“The First Unibear”

Winner of the Pinnacle Book Achievement Award Fall 2021 – Best Book in the Category of Children’s Christian!

Congratulations to Author Kathleen J. Shields for her win at the NABE Fall 2021 Pinnacle Book Achievement Awards. “This is a wonderful honor and prayerfully, the first of many.” Shields’ has been writing since she was a young child. This book, “Unibear” was originally imagined and written when she was ten years old. The first version of the story, while written in rhyme, needed a lot of help (as any story written by a ten year old would) but amazingly, the last three stanzas of the story hasn’t changed in 30 years.

Last Three Stanzas:

Imagine a world full of Unicorn horns,
all filled with magic and all it adorns.

The world would be pleasant.
There would be no more hate,
all evil gone. We’d have a clean slate.

So go now my friend and help others care.  It all started with you,
the first Uni-Bear!”
